"A Witty and Dope Soul Artist"
"WE ENJOYED LISTENING TO YOU TONYA! YOU ARE A FORCE OF NATURE!"
"THE VOCAL STYLINGS OF "POWERHOUSE" TONYA BOYD-CANNON"
Mississippi born; Louisiana raised, Tonya Boyd-Cannon is a "witty and dope soul artist." Tonya’s fairly-rare contralto voice, almost identical to that of a countertenor, pushes the envelope on every song she sings! Boyd-Cannon’s delivery is sharp yet soulful, contemporary and authentic.
Boyd-Cannon’s combination of creative vocals and instrumentation creates a fused-melodic kaleidoscope. Boyd-Cannon got her professional start as a background vocalist for Jean Knight, best known for her 1970’s hit single, “Mr. Big Stuff". Boyd-Cannon took her career to the next level by competing in talent competitions. Her hard work paid off; making her a "Top 20" finalist on NBC’s Emmy-Award winning show, “The Voice; where she was on Adam Levine's team.
Tonya's passion for her music has allowed her to tour the US, Europe & South America.
Boyd-Cannon incessantly states, “I love performing and connecting with people! I hope my fans enjoy my music and the journey we are embarking on together.”
Boyd-Cannon is currently working on her third album, scheduled to release summer 2020.
